Design Guidelines

Purpose
The purpose of the Design Guidelines is to provide a reference to assist the project designer in understanding the City's goals and objectives for high quality development. These guidelines complement the mandatory property development regulations contained in this Zoning Ordinance by providing good examples of potential design solutions and by providing design interpretations of the various mandatory regulations.Applicability
These guidelines are advisory for permitted uses but should be used in conjunction with uses subject to a Minor Administrative Permit, Minor Discretionary Permit, Conditional Use Permit or Planned Development proposal, to encourage the highest level of design quality while at the same time providing the flexibility necessary to encourage creativity on the part of project designers. The guidelines apply to all zoning districts and planned development zones as well as landscaping and signs.Questions regarding the interpretation and applicability of the Design Guidelines should be directed to the City of Turlock Planning Division at (209) 668-5640.
